Lucy Mitchell Date, Artistic Director

holds teacher certification through the Cecchetti Council of America and has taught dance for 28 years. Her training also includes study with Christina Kammueller ,Jacob Lascu and Rose Marie Floyd. Her background is in the Arts and Photography were she had a studio in Pontiac. Director of Dance at Detroit Country Day school for the past 17 years where she implemented an after school dance program for grades PK-5.   We are in our 16th year at the DABH and her goal is to provide quality dance instruction in a warm  and personal environment..

Yvette Johnson

has been dancing since the age of 3 and is a proficient teacher in the Al Gilbert Tap syllabus. She has been a teaching for 22 years and has taken students to National Talent Competitions  from Myrtle Beach, California, New York, and Las Vegas were she had success with 1st place winners at a National level.  Ms. Yvette will be teaching Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical.

Lisa LaMarre
is dedicated to strong dance technique, style diversity, and self inspired movement. She graduated with a BA in dance from Western Michigan University, where she studied ballet, jazz, and modern dance. In 2005, Lisa was chosen as the WMU Department of Dance Presidential Scholar. She also received two WMU Dalton Exceptional Dance Major Scholarships and was awarded an Undergraduate Entrepreneurial Program Grant to study dance in New York City. She has worked with Ballet Met, participated in WMUís Great Works Dance Project.

Trish Shandor, Musical Theatre
has a BMA in vocal performance from Oakland University with a strong emphasis in both jazz and classical voice. She has spent 5 years at the Michigan Opera Theatre as the Special projects Coordinator. Trish was the 2008 & 2009 Detroit Music Award Winner in Classical Voice. She can be seen performing in the Metropolitan area.

  

Nia Silao
 

is Director of award winning Luna Dancers based in Royal Oak. She is a graduate summa cum laude as a Presidential Scholar from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dance. She is also a  certified member of Dance Masters of Michigan teacher training school. Her work has been recognized competitively with titles such as Exceptional Choreography and 1st place overall winners. Keeping dance alive is one of Nia's greatest passions  as she has been involved locally at Music Hall and and is thrilled to be teaching at the Dance Academy in her 6th year.

Nada Sedki
is a graduate from Wayne State University with a Bachelors of Science in Dance. She also teaches at Detroit Country School in our after school dance program.  Nada will be teaching Hip Hop and Jazz this year and is excited to be part of the DABH team.  We are excited to have her join us this year.
